General Motors is preparing a full-fledged competitor to the Jeep WranglerJune 3, 2019
Engineers of the American concern are testing a competitor to a mid-size SUV Jeep Wrangler. About the car so far there is no data.
When the American company Chevrolet announced the revival of the off-road model Blazer, many believed that it was a missed opportunity for the entire General Motors concern to create a full-fledged competitor to the Jeep Wrangler SUV. It is worth noting that Chevrolet is part of the concern General Motors.
The Jeep Wrangler is a very popular model in the mid-size SUV segment. The legendary Chevrolet Blazer K5 generation SUV was a force to be reckoned with in the off-road community, and its return as a CROSSOVER could not but upset the true fans of the brand. By the way, Ford has already decided to resurrect its off-road legend Bronco – this model will remain an SUV.
GM is allegedly testing an SUV, and we have every reason to believe that the company intends to create a competitor namely the Wrangler.
However, not all hope is lost for GM in joining the tough competition of the revived SUVs. The publication of the GM Authority reports that the concern’s engineers were spotted with the Jeep Wrangler at the Milford training ground in Michigan.
According to the report, a pair of prototypes of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited were found at test sites. These machines were hung with a variety of sensors and other data acquisition equipment.
Of course, it is imperative that the new competitive GM SUV “sits” on a chassis of the “body on frame” type, unlike the current Chevy Blazer crossover. It is assumed that Chevrolet and GMC will have their competitors Jeep Wrangler. These cars will get the same platform, completely new names, to get rid of the historical “baggage”.
