Gelandewagen was knocked over several times during a ride on the beachOctober 26, 2020
The Mercedes-AMG G63 SUV from the limited edition 1 series fell victim to the sand and self-confidence of the owner
A video of the Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 1 “triumphant” race on a sandy beach in the Netherlands has been posted on Instagram. It is not clear why the owner of an SUV worth 256,555 euros decided to ride on wet sand at high speed, but, in all likelihood, this idea will never occur to him again.
As you can see in the video from vdhautomotive, trying to escape from the sandy captivity, the driver adds gas when cornering – at this moment the SUV rolls over on its side, and after several turns in the air it falls sideways.
You can assess the picture of damage by several photos. Mercedes Gelandewagen was badly damaged: the entire rear part of the body was dented on the left side, including the roof. The rear window is squeezed out, the fenders are torn from the body. Considering the flight that preceded it, the SUV has survived pretty well. The driver was not injured, apart from hurt pride and material costs for car repairs.
Introduced in 2018, the Mercedes-AMG G63 Edition 1 is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine with half-cylinder shutdown at low loads. The output of the unit is 585 hp. and 850 Nm of torque available at 2500-3500 rpm. The gearbox is a 9-speed automatic. Acceleration time from 0 to 96 km / h – 4.4 s. The maximum speed is limited to 220 km / h, with the AMG Driver package – 240 km / h.
