Geely plans to open new plant for Polestar in ChinaOctober 26, 2020
Chinese concern Geely intends to build a new facility for the premium brand Polestar in China. This information was shared by Reuters, relying on two sources.
According to interlocutors, Geely plans to launch a plant with a production capacity of up to 30,000 electric vehicles per year. They want to build a new enterprise in the Chinese city of Chongqing. In turn, neither Geely nor Polestar began to comment on this information.
It is worth saying that this news came against the backdrop of the expansion by Tesla and BMW of their production of electric cars in China. Geely is currently producing the Polestar 1 and Polestar 2. At the same time, it plans to launch production of the Precept sedan, which was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show this year. Although there are no details about the upcoming new product, it is known that it will be produced at the new Geely plant in China.
Polestar, in particular, will increase the number of dealerships from 23 to 45 worldwide by the end of this year. It is worth saying that Geely is also building another enterprise in China, which will produce crossovers under the Lotus brand.
In addition, it was recently noted that the Chinese corporation Geely demonstrated the Okavango three-row crossover. It should be emphasized that the car will be intended for export to other countries. In the PRC, this cross is known under the name HaoYue.
