Geely is preparing for the premiere of a budget alternative to Tesla Model 3

The Geely sedan is currently known by the intra-factory index GE11, the product name will be announced later. Appearance is made in the new style – the sedan is not like other electric models of the company.

For example, unlike the green versions of the cross-hatch GS and the Emgrand sedan, the GE11 does not have a cap simulating a grille. In addition, the car has an updated brand logo (silver instead of a black and blue emblem) and “hidden” door handles. Geely GE11 specifications are not disclosed, all information should appear early next year.

Meanwhile, the design of the novelty is no longer a secret: in October, photographs of a serial electric vehicle were added to the “full-length” base of the Ministry of Industry, plus the omnipresent photo spies were able to look into the interior of the car. The GT11’s interior was made like a Tesla Model 3: the buttons are almost absent, a large touch screen rises above the front panel. True, the dashboard in Geely still did not give up – its role is performed by a smaller display.

Thanks to the PRC certification authority, the dimensions of the GE11 are also known, there are still some details about the “stuffing”. Thus, the length of the electric sedan is 4736 mm, the wheelbase is 2700 mm. In the same Tesla Model 3, these figures are 4690 and 2800 mm, respectively. “Chinese” will offer a 177-horsepower electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, the capacity of which is still unknown. Data on the power reserve either.

Both other Geely electric cars – GS and Emgrand 7 – are equipped with a 163-horsepower engine and a battery with a capacity of 52 kWh. The hatch can drive about 353 km on a single charge, the “green” version of the Emgrand 7 sedan is about 400 km. If you move at a constant speed of no more than 60 km / h, then the range and cross-hatch, and sedan will grow somewhere up to 450 km. True, all measurements were carried out according to the obsolete NEDC cycle, but if we are guided by the current WLTP, the mileage will be reduced by about a hundred kilometers.

The price of Geely GE11 has not yet been announced, but the novelty will surely surpass the electrical versions of the GS and Emgrand 7: the green hatchback in China today costs from 119,800 yuan, the second model will cost at least 135,800 yuan. At the same time, Geely GE11, obviously, will turn out to be much cheaper than the notorious Tesla Model 3. Model 3 has not yet entered the Chinese market, but orders for it are already being received, deliveries are expected in the first half of 2019. By the way, most recently Tesla lowered the prices of its products in China: cars became cheaper due to the fact that the Chinese government decided to conclude an armistice with the Americans – the trade war declared by President Trump may soon end. When the acceptance of applications for the Model 3 has just opened, the price of the electric sedan started from 540,000 yuan, now the Model 3 costs from 499,000 yuan.
