Geely is preparing another crossover based on VolvoAugust 31, 2019
The Chinese concern is going to further expand its own model line, and the serial version of the Geely Icon concept is being prepared for debut. The first teasers, as well as details about the filling, appeared on the Web.
Back in 2018, an interesting Geely Icon concept was presented at the Beijing Spring Auto Show. The model features an unusual front design, a Geely nameplate and Volvo filling. And despite the strangeness of the design, the model goes into series almost unchanged. Rear doors and head optics will differ from the concept.
The crossover is built on the basis of a modular platform BMA, created jointly by Geely and Volvo. The dimensions are quite compact and comprise: length – 4,350 mm, width – 1,810 mm, height – 1,615 mm, wheelbase size – 2,640 mm. Conceptual rear-view cameras instead of mirrors have been replaced by classic rear-view mirrors.
As a power unit, a non-alternative 1.5-liter turbo engine is now declared, capable of developing up to 177 horsepower. A hybrid version will be introduced later. Unfortunately, all-wheel drive will not even be optional.
Sales should begin this fall. But the first deliveries for the territory of China will begin no earlier than the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021.
