A compact “SUV” will reach Chinese dealers this year. Later the novelty will appear in other countries.
The company Geely announced the commodity name of the crossover, previously known as the in-factory index SX11: in China, the SUV is called Binyue. The export name has not yet been disclosed. Today Geely also distributed several new images of SUV. A full-fledged premiere of the cross will be held in the near future.
Recall, SUV is the first model of the brand, built on the BMA platform (B-segment Modular Architecture). This is a new platform, which, as stated earlier in Geely, was developed by the company’s own forces. However, some elements are certainly borrowed from the “senior” platform CMA (Compact Modular Architecture), created by the Chinese together with Volvo (Swedish brand belongs to Geely). On the platform CMA based crossover Volvo XC40 and models of the brand Lynk & Co (joint project Geely and Volvo).
The Geely Binyue is smaller than the XC40: the length of the Chinese is 4,330 mm (-95 mm compared to the Volvo model), the width is 1,800 mm (63 mm less than the Swede), the height is 1,609 mm ( -43 mm), the wheelbase is 2 600 mm (-102 mm).
At the first stage Binyue will be offered with a petrol “turbo-turbo” 1.5 power 177 hp. (255 Nm), developed together with Volvo. The motor is combined with a seven-speed preselective robotic transmission. To the first 100 km/h crossover will accelerate in 7.9 seconds. It is not yet known whether Geely is designed for a full drive. Later, Binyue will have a hybrid version, but there are no details about the installation yet. By the way, the 1.5T engine is also available in the Volvo XC40 crossover range: the engine produces 156 hp from the Swede. (265 Nm) and works in tandem with a six-speed “mechanics”, from a place to 100 km / h this SUV accelerates in 9.4 seconds.
In China, Geely Binyue sales start in the fourth quarter of this year. For export, the model is likely to be sent in 2019, however, countries in which a new cross will be available are not yet named.
In the future, the BMA platform will form the basis of other new Geely products. In addition, it is expected that this architecture will be used by subsidiaries – Volvo and Malaysian Proton.
