Geely Coolray turned into Proton X50September 13, 2020
The Malaysian company Proton on Sunday, September 13, showed the X50 model, built on the basis of the Geely Coolray crossover.
If you do not take into account the transformation of the car into a right-hand drive (in Malaysia, left-hand traffic), there have been no significant changes. Of the visible distinctive features – only logos and a different radiator grille.
The Proton X50 has the same 3-cylinder 177-horsepower 1.5-liter turbo engine coupled with a 7-speed robotic transmission and a front-wheel drive system. However, while Coolray comes standard with two airbags, the X50 comes with six.
The appearance of the new Proton X50 in the Malaysian car market is expected before the end of the year. But the management of the auto concern said that the release of the second badge-engineering model does not mean that all future Proton cars will become copies of Geely. Its engineering department has remained and is still working: two original models are planned for the next 5 years.
In addition, it was recently noted that a demonstration of the updated Jetour X70 crossover took place. It should be emphasized that the car has undergone changes in the exterior, and also acquired a number of additional options.
