Geely and Foxconn will engage in contract production of carsJanuary 13, 2021
Taiwan-based Foxconn and Chinese automaker Geely will be partners. They are going to create a joint venture with equal shares.
The announced joint venture will not only produce cars, but also share experience and developments in the production of electric cars. Another area of activity is the production and supply of auto components for both traditional cars and electrified ones.
The main goal of the new venture is to help automakers move to more innovative manufacturing solutions as quickly as possible. We will remind, last fall Geely presented its own platform for battery cars.
At the same time, the Chinese promised that they would share the new architecture with other companies. Foxconn is also one of Apple’s main partners.
In October, the company shared its ambitious plans: by 2025-2027, it plans to produce components for 10% of the world’s electric cars.
Earlier, we said that Geely sold a record number of new cars in our country at the end of 2020. The best-selling car was the Atlas crossover, and the Coolray crossover also successfully debuted.
