Gasoline Skoda Karoq will be available with all-wheel drive

The Czech brand intends to expand the lineup of its compact crossover versions.

Skoda Karoq SUV debuted in May last year. In Europe, the cross is available with a petrol “turbo” 1.0 TSI 115 hp. and a new 150-horsepower 4-cylinder turbo 1.5 TSI (with a system of cylinder shutdown at part load). The diesel range is represented by 1.6 TDI (115 hp) and 2.0 TDI (150 or 190 hp). All engines, except for the top diesel engine, are combined with a six-speed manual or DSG-7 automatic transmission. Crossover with a 190-horsepower 2.0 TDI is completed exclusively with DSG-7.

At the moment, only Skoda Karoq has a four-wheel drive with a two-liter diesel engine. Petrol versions are front-wheel drive. However, as it became known, in autumn 2018 Karoq 1.5 TSI 4 × 4 will appear in Europe. The price of the new version has not been announced yet. The diesel 150-horsepower SUV with all-wheel drive in the Czech Republic costs from 669 900 kroons. The front-drive model with a 1.5 TSI engine in the country of the brand will cost a minimum of 574,900 kroons.

Recall, Skoda Karoq is built on the Volkswagen platform MQB. The length of the novelty of the Czech brand is 4,382 mm, width – 1,841 mm, height – 1,605 mm. The size of the wheelbase front-drive cross-country – 2,638 mm, version 4×4 – 2,630 mm. The list of equipment of the model can include: LED optics, VarioFlex seats with longitudinal adjustment, parking assistant, a system for holding in the lane and a support function for traffic in traffic jams, monitoring systems for blind areas, automatic emergency braking (with recognition of pedestrians), recognition of road signs. In addition, Karoq was the first of Skoda models to receive a fully digital “device”. By the way, this year the virtual instrument panel will appear at Octavia, Superb and SUV Kodiaq.

Production of Karoq for Europe is established at the company’s factories in Kvasiny and Mlada-Boleslav. By the way, in the last city to release the crossover began recently – only at the end of 2017 (in Kvasiny Karoq produced since July last year). According to Skoda, the second platform was needed because of the high demand for the model in Europe: on the european market SUV was released in October 2017, for three months of last year, 6,900 machines were sold, and in January 2018, th – 3,900 units.
