GAC Trumpchi GS4 changed generation and moved to a new platformOctober 23, 2019
The popular compact cross was the first model in the history of the Chinese brand, created on the basis of the GPMA modular chassis, which is the brand’s own development. With this platform, the GAC opens up completely new perspectives.
GAC, planning to offer its GS8 SUV to the Russians before the end of this year, presented the second generation GAC Trumpchi GS4 compact cross. The novelty is based on the new modular platform GPMA – for GAC this is the first experience with such a “cart”. With the new platform, the brand can vary the size of the wheelbase, the height of the road and other parameters of its models, as well as experiment with hybrids. So, the brand plans to release on the GPMA not only new SUVs, but also sedans and minivans.
Having replaced the generation, the GS4 has become longer by 20 mm – up to 4,545 mm, and its wheelbase now reaches 2,680 mm (+40 mm).
The appearance of the new product corresponds to the new corporate identity of the brand with a large radiator grill, fully LED optics and a dimensional front bumper. The design of the radiator grill will be presented in two versions. The taillights are connected by a chrome insert, and the license plate here now flaunts on the trunk door. But the compact “cross” retained the spectacular “floating” roof.
Inside the car there are new seats, a redesigned front panel and a central tunnel. Dashboard has become fully digital, and the multimedia screen has added in size. In addition, GS4 now has a WeChat messenger popular in China – they even provided for it a special button on the steering wheel.
So far, the novelty has only one engine – a one and a half liter turbocharged power of 169 hp. It is combined with an “automatic” and front-wheel drive. Over time, the GS4 motor line will expand, including thanks to the Plug-in Hybrid power plant with the function of recharging from external networks. In China, the new GAC Trumpchi GS4 will appear in November. His price lists are being kept secret. “Pre-reformed” cross cost from 89,800 yuan
