Future Jaguar models will not have large touchscreensApril 29, 2019
Designer British brand Jaguar, who previously worked on such models as the Ford RS200, Aston Martin DB7 / Vanquish, said that we will not see Tesla-style giant touch screens in future brand models.
Speaking at the presentation of the updated Jaguar XE sedan, he called the touch screens, which appear in all new / updated cars, are not the most comfortable. When asked by journalists about whether such displays will be installed in future models of the British automaker, Mr. Kollum, the company’s chief designer, said no, this will not happen.
“If you are traveling at a speed of 150 km / h, you simply have no time to poke around in the large touch screen in order to move the mirrors or adjust the position of the chair, or change the temperature of the climate control,” – said Jan Kollum.
“You have to concentrate all your attention on the road and, if necessary, pay a few milliseconds to various adjustments — it’s just impossible to do with touch screens.”
Meanwhile, the updated XE sedan, which was personally demonstrated by the chief designer of the British brand, has a couple of screens. One at the top – it shows important information about the car and driving, and the bottom shows less important things, such as the state of the work climate control. The car also retains some of the features of the old school tactile interface.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that the company Jaguar Land Rover is going to pay drivers for information about trips.
