The company Nissan has named the countries in which they will sell a new large SUV.
A new model of the Japanese brand declassified in February this year. The Terra off-roader is built on the basis of the Nissan Navara pickup of the current generation, in the brand’s lineup the novelty will occupy the niche of the previous Pathfinder (this model with a succession of generations turned into a crossover) and Paladin (created on the basis of Navara before the last generation). The main competitors of the new Nissan are Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
The first market for Terra was China – there SUV already sell, its production is established at the plant of JV Nissan and Dongfeng. Now the company has told about the variant intended for the countries of Southeast Asia, and also has announced the list of the markets on which the model will soon appear. So, in August of this year, sales of Terra start in the Philippines, then the SUV will appear in Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. A little later the novelty will reach even Australia.
SUV for Southeast Asia will be produced in Thailand, at the same plant where they produce Navara. While the company disclosed the dimensions of the Philippine version: the length is 4,885 mm, which is 3 mm larger than the Chinese version, the width is 1,865 mm (15 mm more than Terra for China). The remaining indicators are the same as those of the Chinese version: height – 1,835 mm, wheelbase – 2,850 mm, ground clearance – 225 mm. For comparison, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport dimensions of the latest generation: 4 785/1 815/1 800 mm, wheelbase – 2,800 mm, ground clearance – 218 mm.
Like the “donor” pickup, Terra has a rear axle, the rear suspension is spring-loaded. The base SUV is a rear-wheel drive, the more expensive versions have a hard-wired four-wheel drive and a rear differential lock.
In South-East Asia, the Terra will be offered with a seven-seater saloon and a YD25 2.5 turbodiesel, which is familiar to the former Nissan Pathfinder and Navara. The output of the engine is 190 hp, the maximum torque is 450 Nm. The engine is combined with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission. Note, the Chinese version of Nissan Terra is equipped with 184-hp gasoline QR25 2.5 from Navara (251 Nm), this motor also works in conjunction with 6MKP or 7AKP. In China, Terra is only available in the five-seater version.
From Navara, the off-roader also got equipment, for Terra there are: LED optics, air conditioning or climate control, multimedia system, round-robin cameras, automatic emergency braking systems, monitoring blind spots and preventing collisions. Plus, for Terra, you can order a salon mirror with a display, to which the image from the rear camera is transferred.
