The third generation of the Japanese crossover Isuzu MU-X has lost all the similarities with the Chevrolet Trailblazer, also moving away from the Isuzu D-Max pickup in design. The novelty is still being tipped with two turbodiesels.

A few days ago, patent images of a new generation Isuzu MU-X SUV were published on the Web, after which independent designers began to fantasize about the appearance of the future novelty. Now the brand itself has circulated teasers and announced the date of the official debut of the new model, which is scheduled for October 28 in Thailand, because the main production site is located there.

Like the D-Max pickup of the current generation, the new SUV is built on the Isuzu Dynamic Drive platform, which the Japanese developed without the participation of specialists from GM. But at the same time, the SUV is very different in design from the pickup: it now has its own grille, front bumper and optics. Moreover, the latter stand out thanks to LED DRLs, as well as thin LED lines in the taillights.

There is no information about the interior, but Thai media believe that there will be cardinal differences between the D-Max and MU-X inside. At the same time, the SUV will still be available with a three-row saloon. But the equipment should be similar, so in all-terrain vehicles, buyers will find dual-zone climate control, a multimedia complex with a 7- or 9-inch touchscreen, a control system for “blind” zones and six airbags.

The engine range will most likely also be borrowed from the pickup. It will include the base 1.9-liter RZ4E-TC turbodiesel with 150 hp. and the more powerful 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX with 190 hp. and 450 Nm. Transmission – 6-speed manual transmission or automatic transmission. By the way, according to unofficial data, the MU-X has an independent rear suspension with springs, instead of a spring beam of a truck. Of course, the model will be offered with all-wheel drive.

Thailand will obviously be the first market for the new SUV, then the model will reach other countries in Southeast Asia, as well as India, Australia, Africa and South America. The appearance of the MU-X in Russia is questionable: the predecessor is not represented here, and the D-Max pickup is available on the Russian market only in the second generation.
