Formula E and Extreme E Series Creator Presents E1 Electric Racing Boat ChampionshipSeptember 29, 2020
Alejandro Agag, who is directly involved in the Formula E and Extreme E electric racing series, has unveiled his new brainchild – the E1 electric racing boat championship.
The championship will use one-seater electric boats RaceBirds from SeaBird Technologies, made in a very original design. The combination of electric propulsion and a specially shaped hydrofoil will allow the boat to accelerate to 60 knots (110 km / h).
The creators of the E1 championship plan to bring together 12 teams that will compete in several stages on a point system, determining the winners at the end of the season. It will be possible to charge the batteries indefinitely during the tests and qualifications, but during the competition the charging will be limited to force the teams to use a more complex strategy.
It is assumed that the E1 championship will be closely associated with the Extreme E championship, that is, it will also promote environmental initiatives, including the reduction of harmful emissions and the preservation of protected areas of the planet. What’s more, the organizers expect the Extreme E electric SUV and E1 electric boat competition to take place in parallel, in the same unique locations that were previously voiced for the Extreme E racing series.
