Former chief engineer Tesla returned to AppleAugust 10, 2018
Former chief engineer of Tesla Motors Doug Field, who left the American manufacturer of electric cars in July, returned to Apple. About this, with reference to its own source, reports Daring Fireball.
Field has become one of several dozen top managers who left the Tesla state in recent years. He came to Tesla Motors from Apple, where he served as vice president of component development for Macintosh computers, and before he worked for Segway and Ford.
In Tesla Doug Field worked for about five years, where, in particular, was responsible for developing the most affordable electric car model 3, the launch of which was failed.
Previously, Apple was developing its own electric vehicle with automatic control systems. It was assumed that the electric car, known under the code name Titan, will appear between 2019 and 2021.
However, in autumn of 2016 it became known that the management of Apple decided to abandon the creation of their own car, but will continue to develop autonomous transport management systems. It is not excluded that after Field’s return Apple can again unfreeze the project of its own car Titan.
