Apparently, the proceedings with the diesel scandal continues, and now the prosecutor’s office in Braunschweig has charged five participants. The case will be considered by the local court.
The press service of the prosecutor’s office in Braunschweig reported on the next stage of the investigation of dieselgate. At this stage, charges were brought against five members of environmental frauds, including the former chairman of the Volkswagen automaker Martin Winterkorn.
The charges will be considered by the Economic Chamber of the local land court. The former top manager of the German concern is charged with quite serious violations of the law, including “a particularly serious case of fraud and violation of the law of unfair competition.”
Back in 2015, the scandal with the environmental friendliness of Volkswagen diesel cars thundered all over the world. As it turned out, the company deliberately lowered the CO2 reading in the exhaust gas and lowered the fuel consumption during the tests. This was possible through the use of special software for the electronic engine control unit.
