Former budget sub-brand Chery is working on a new SUVNovember 26, 2019
Chinese brand Cowin published sketches of the mysterious compact crossover. The design of the future SUV is markedly different from the corporate identity of the brand.
Chery created the Cowin brand in 2014. She was supposed to produce inexpensive youth cars. The idea failed – the budget sub-brand Chery in the market failed. He showed his best result in 2016, when dealers managed to sell 43 thousand cars. But it was planned much more – 63 thousand. After that, Chery got rid of Cowin by selling a controlling stake. Currently, this brand produces only three models: crossovers X3 and X5, as well as the E3 sedan. In fact, these are the turned Tiggo 3, Tiggo 5 and Chery Bonus 3.
With sales, Cowin still does not add up, but the brand is clearly not going to give up, announcing a new SUV. About the future novelty, we can judge by only three sketches. She has no name yet, but the factory index FX11 is known.
On the images that hit the Web, it’s quite difficult to discern the similarity of the new product with the Chery models. Most likely, their visual relationship will be limited to the design of the stern. The new SUV will receive a dimensional radiator grille, stylish optics with LED L-shaped inserts and an aggressive bumper. No technical details. The date of the debut of the new SUV is also classified. Experts suggest that Cowin may present a new product at the end of 2019 – the beginning of 2020.
If the new cross from Cowin turns out to be turned Tiggo 5x (such assumptions were made earlier after spy photos of camouflaged SUV, similar to Chery Tiggo 5x), then it will borrow the motors from the “donor”. Recall that in China it is a one and a half liter gasoline “aspirated” with a return of 116 hp. or one and a half liter 156-horsepower “turbo four” (in the Hero version). The first motor is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission or a variator, the second with a “robot”. Drive – non-alternative front.
