Ford will stop selling the Fusion (Mondeo) Sport sedan this year.June 4, 2019
As part of its new strategy, the American brand Ford seeks to remove from its model range all cars except crossovers, SUVs and pickups. Commercial vehicles will also remain untouched. In particular, in 2019, the compact model of Ford Fusion (Mondeo) Sport should be eliminated.
According to Cars Direct, Ford will stop producing Fusion Sport in the 2020 model year – that is, in the 2019 real year. A Ford spokesman said eliminating this model will help the brand focus on the development of more important areas.
Nevertheless, even Fusion fans should hurry with a local dealer, since the 2020 model year is the last year for the Ford sedan, which was introduced in 2005.
What made the Fusion Sport model attractive is the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 325 horsepower (515 Nm). A six-speed automatic transmitted torque to all four wheels. Now, without the Fusion Sport, the most powerful engine for the Fusion is the 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost, which develops a torque of 245 hp. (372 Nm).
Ford has never particularly distinguished the Fusion Sport from all its cars. The car received a not very aggressive look – 19-inch wheels and four exhaust pipes. Nevertheless, it is expensive – the 2019 model costs from 41,010 dollars. Inside, any hint of the sporty character of Fusion is just as unclear. The most obvious indicator is the Sport badge on the trunk, but that’s all.
