Ford will create a pickup truck with a bearing body by 2022July 30, 2018
The foreign magazine Automobile shared information about the plans of the American company Ford regarding the new platform C2. In April this year, the fourth generation Focus built on it was presented. And they are going to use it in creating a small pickup truck.
The new C2 platform will allow the company to update its product line. So, for example, it will build the next generation of the crossover Kuga (in the US Escape) and the electric cross Mach 1. The new Ford Kuga, by the way, will be presented next year, in its engine range they promise to include a hybrid unit.
C2 will also be at the heart of a compact pickup truck carrying the body, which will be a step below the Ranger. This pickup replaced Courier, whose production was completed in 2013.
According to experts of “Drive”, the car would be well sold in South America and Europe. In addition, the issue of the possibility of a pickup truck in the States is also being studied. For the sake of pickups and crossovers, the company is going to completely remove the hatchbacks and sedans. And in Europe, perhaps C-Max, S-Max, Mondeo and Galaxy will disappear.
There will be a new pickup in the US or not, depends on the actions of Donald Trump, who had previously repeatedly stated his intention to support the domestic auto industry. Expect from it and the adjustment of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), as the pickup and an unnamed crossover built on C2 will most likely be assembled at a Mexican plant in Cuautitlan. If the pick-up is planned to be released to the markets before 2020, the cross will be released earlier – in 2020.
