The interior of the updated Ford Taurus large sedan, designed for the Chinese market, is revealed. The model will go on sale before the end of the current year.

The fourth-generation Taurus of the seventh generation made its debut in the China in 2015, it is based on the current Mondeo platform, and the production of both models was launched at the local Ford and Changan joint ventures. Recall, Taurus is still represented in the States, but there is available a previous generation sedan, built on the platform D3 (a type of Volvo P2 platform). In America, the history of the model will be completed soon, but in China they are not going to give up on it – by the end of the year a renewed big sedan will start there. Appearance of the refreshed Taurus for China was revealed in May, but now the Chinese media replicated a picture of the cabin.

The main feature of the interior is the vertical touch screen of the multimedia system, which also brought control of the air conditioning system and other machine functions. By the way, huge Kuga (former generation) and Edge Chinese restyled crossovers also received huge tablets. Even the Taurus probably updated the virtual dashboard. And the leather patterned decoration of the chairs and door cards suggests that we have a luxurious Vignale package.

As for the exterior design, the sedan was replaced with a grille and bumpers, new LED headlights and lanterns appeared. The length of the sedan has grown by 22 mm to 5018 mm, the wheelbase is still equal to 2949 mm. Features of the top version of the Vignale – grille with a “wavy” pattern instead of horizontal stripes at the base machine and exclusive wheels.

It is expected that the updated Ford Taurus will offer with the same petrol turbo four EcoBoost capacity of 245 hp. For the pre-reform model, a four-cylinder 1.5 EcoBoost turbo engine is provided with a return of 181 hp, but this engine is not specified in documents previously submitted to the base of the Ministry of Industry of the People’s Republic of China – it is possible that he was dismissed. In the previous sedan, both engines are combined with a six-speed automatic transmission, but Chinese profile media are hoping for 8-speed automatic transmission.

Previous Taurus is rapidly losing customers: in 2018 in China, 8,293 cars were sold, which is three times less than a year earlier. And in January-June 2019, sales decreased by almost five times to 1,333 units. The former sedan costs from 234,800 yuan. Akin to Mondeo is cheaper (from 179,800 yuan), and therefore more popular, although this model is also in deep “minus”: 45,405 cars were transferred to customers in 2018 (for the six months of 2019) 9530 copies sold (three times less than in January-June 2018).
