Ford showed eight special SUVs for the SEMA showOctober 18, 2019
Prototypes based on Escape, Exlporer and Expedition will premiere in November
Ford has shown a set of improvements for all-terrain vehicles Escape, Explorer and Expedition. Easy tuning allows you to personalize popular models by finalizing the suspension, replacing the wheels, exhaust system and decor elements.
The specialists of Blood Type Racing pointedly improved the hybrid version of Explorer: they increased the clearance by 13 millimeters thanks to spacers, installed an additional diode beam and a trunk on the roof. The regular tires gave way to the 20-inch Toyo Tires Open Country A / T II, and the finishing touch was the replacement of the exhaust system with a Borla kit.
Three options for the modernization of the “blue oval” prepared for the compact crossover Escape. The first is called LGE-CTS Motorsports Urban Escape: the city SUV was improved with a focus on sports, lowering the suspension by installing 20-inch golden 10-spoke TSW Petrol P6A rims, a roof rack and a more melodic Borla exhaust system with a non-return valve. By customer request, Ford can equip the SUV with a leather interior.
The next version of the Escape refinement is Air Design USA Escape Sport Hybrid. Distinctive features are a black and white paint scheme, wing extenders, silver fake door sills and bumpers, 20-inch Forgiato Flow 001 wheels. Intervention in the interior was limited to installing a portable refrigerator.
The MAD Industries Escape version is another variation on the theme of dynamics. The Rotiform OZR multi-spoke wheels, Eibach sports springs, Rockford Fosgate audio system and bicycle roof rack associate the compact crossover with an active lifestyle.
The “hot” Explorer ST version of the CGS Performance Products is distinguished by 24-inch Savini wheels, gray-graphite livery of the body with contrasting inserts along the roof and moldings, as well as a special Borla muffler. The interior was transformed by Alea Leather.
Prefix Explorer ST has a special mission. The SUV will work as a support car at the stages of the Trams Am 2020 racing series. In addition to special signals and vibrant colorography, Explorer received a first aid kit, lowered suspension, 20-inch GWG alloy wheels, and Recaro Cross Sportster ORV racing seats.
For the full-sized Expedition, only two versions were prepared. The MAD Industries package is “imprisoned” off-road: off-road 22-inch wheels with off-road tires Nitto Ridge Grappler, adjustable screw suspension, carbon-kermatic brakes, extra light and a tent on the roof will help.
The opposite approach was chosen for Expedition Good Boy Daisy. The suspension is underestimated as much as possible, 24-inch Forgiato wheels on low-profile tires are recessed into wheel arches, a Borla exhaust is installed, and the engine is slightly boosted. The luxury of the interior is highlighted by nappa leather and Sennheiser sound system.
The public debut of all eight concepts will take place a month later at the SEMA 2019 Special Equipment Show in Las Vegas. It is possible that closer to the event, Ford announces additional news.
