Ford Shelby Mustang GT350 by Livernois Motorsports or affordable / efficient tuningJune 20, 2020
Specialists from Livernois Motorsports have found a way to quickly and without the need for complex technical modifications increase the power of the Shelby GT350 motor by 50 hp.
For owners of the iconic Ford Shelby GT350 sports coupe who want even more power from their fairly powerful V8 engine without the need for complex mechanical changes, the Livernois Motorsports team seems to have found a solution. In a recent article published in the overseas edition of Muscle Cars & Trucks, Livernois Motorsports experts clearly demonstrated the possibility of increasing power on the Shelby GT350.
These guys just tune the electronic engine control unit to use E85 fuel (a mixture of ethanol and gasoline, usually AI95) – in this case, an increase in power will be more than 50 horsepower.
I note that under the hood of the Shelby GT350 there is a 5.2-liter V8, which develops up to 526 horsepower and works with a manual transmission. Many car critics have said this engine is one of the largest naturally aspirated engines on sale today.
Thanks to the use of the E85 fuel mixture, the owners of the GT350 “get the opportunity to experience significant gains in power without the need for expensive mechanical modifications.” According to the tuners themselves, they opted for the E85 because of its predisposition to premature detonation.
If suddenly the company’s customers are unable to use the E85, the Livernois Motorsports team will set the engine to work with a mixture of E85 and 93 octane gasoline, or only the latter.
