Ford sends over 100 thousand Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ for repairsAugust 20, 2019
It is known that this large-scale service action will affect North America. The reason for the start of the recall campaign was the defect of the seat belts, because of which they may not be able to cope with their main task – to ensure the safety of the driver and passenger.
Under review in the United States were 103,374 copies of the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ models. All of them went off the assembly line in 2015. Owners of “problematic” cars will have to turn to specialists because of insufficiently reliable seat belts. The problem is with their anchor pretensioners. As a result, such a defect can lead to the fact that in the event of a road accident, the belt will not be able to hold the driver or passenger, which is fraught with the risk of any kind of injury.
In order to return the safety performance to their seat belts, specialists will apply a special coating for their protection free of charge. Owners of cars that are under review will be notified of the need to deliver their car for repair to a dealer.
In addition to the American car market, this service action will affect Canada and Mexico. In Canada, 4,002 cars fell under a revocable campaign, while in Mexico – 1,023 cars.
