Ford registers new Scout and Bronco Scout trade names in the USAApril 22, 2019
On April 15, the United States Patent and Trademark Office filed an application for registration of new trademarks. It is possible that they will never be used by an American company.
The name “Scout” makes Europeans remember the Czech Skoda brand – usually with this name off-road versions of station wagons and crossovers are marked. It seems that soon, this word will be associated with the American automaker – Ford. Not so long ago it became known that representatives of the company filed an application for registration of the new Scout and Bronco Scout product names in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It was April 15, and although this does not necessarily mean that Ford will actually use them, it can be a sign of what can happen to the revived Bronco SUV and its smaller brother.
One can imagine that the name Scout is used just for the latter – this Ford car currently calls the off-road version of the crossover Escape 2020 model year.
It has already been confirmed that the smaller of the two SUVs will be built on the same platform as the updated Escape crossover, which, in turn, means that it will have much in common with the fourth generation of the Focus.
It is possible that under this name will hide a more off-road version of the Bronco in the same vein as Skoda has a simple Octavia wagon, and there is an off-road version of it, designated as Scout.
As for the larger of the two options for the revived Bronco SUV, it is known that he will arrive in 2020 and will be offered in two or four-door versions. The novelty will receive a frame structure of the body, an EcoBoost engine with a power of about 325 horsepower and a 7-speed manual transmission.
