Ford Ranger Raptor can get a competitor in the face of Nissan Navara Off-RoaderMarch 9, 2018
Rumors about the preparation of competitor Ranger Raptor from Nissan are beginning to be confirmed by patent applications.
On the eve of the car manufacturer Nissan filed an application for patenting the trade name Navara Off-Roader to the European Union’s intellectual property office (EUIPO). This information was declassified by the publication Autoguide.
The new name was reserved by the company in the group Nice Classification 12, which includes land, water and air vehicles and components for cars.
Most likely, under this name will release a modified and enhanced version of the pickup Nissan Navara, which will compete with the new Ford Ranger Raptor. It is expected that new Nissan Navara Off-Road will receive a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 from Mercedes-Benz X-Class, whose capacity is 258 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. For comparison, the Ranger Raptor is equipped with a two-liter turbodiesel at 213 hp and 500 Nm. In this case, the rival from Nissan will be much more powerful.
Renault-Nissan claims that they have all the technologies to create a worthy rival, including using a diesel engine from Mercedes-Benz. However, the company will do this only if there is a potential demand for such a special version.
The Ford Ranger Raptor will be on sale later this year. Nissan has enough time to quickly create its own off-road pickup truck.
