Ford patented name for new SUVSeptember 19, 2020
The US Patent Office on Saturday, September 19, filed a patent application for the Ford brand in the name Warthog.
Motor Trend reports, citing its sources, that Ford has probably registered a name for the new SUV, which will be an extreme variant of the Bronco. Thus, it is possible that the “charged” Bronco will be called “Warthog” rather than “Predator”, and the Raptor will be named exclusively for Ford pickups.
This assumption is also supported by the fact that there is no typical radiator grille on the concepts of the production version of the Bronco, which have already been taken out for testing.
In turn, the head of the Ford Bronco project, Eric Loeffler, said some time ago that it is not planned to develop an 8-cylinder modification of the Bronco due to the tightening of emission standards and the lack of interest in the V8 from potential SUV buyers.
In addition, more recently it was noted that the Ford F-150 pickup truck will acquire a productive electric modification. It should be emphasized that the production of the American company’s electric pickup truck will not begin until 2022.
