Ford Mustang won’t get 7.3-liter naturally aspirated V8 engineOctober 4, 2020
The new naturally aspirated 7.3-liter V8 petrol unit called Godzilla will be fitted exclusively to the Ford F-250 pickups.
Thus, the Mustang muscle car range will not be represented by this unit. In 2019, the presentation of a gasoline lower-shaft engine under the name Godzilla from Ford Corporation, created for F-Series Super Duty pickups, took place.
Some time ago, the engine became available in the list of branded spare parts of the American automaker at a cost of $ 8150 (approximately 636 thousand rubles). This unit has elements such as a cast iron cylinder block, aluminum heads and other parts.
There is nothing strange in the fact that Ford Mustang fans wanted to equip the model with Godzilla, and this is permissible from the technical point of view. But, according to the chief engineer of the Godzilla project Pat Hertrich, the Mustang will not be equipped with an aspirated V8 of 7.3 liters, since the 436-horsepower engine is designed for continuous use in difficult conditions, and it makes no sense to equip sports cars with it.
In addition, it was recently noted that it took four years to redesign this 1963 Ford Thunderbird. It should be emphasized that this model became the pioneer of the segment of “personal luxury cars” in America.
