Ford Mustang finally gets good brakesApril 30, 2020
The Ford Performance sports division has announced that a more effective set of brakes is now available for the legendary Mustang coupe. They can even handle the enormous power of the Ford Mustang engine in the GT version.
The all-new Ford Mustang sports coupe in the exclusive Bullitt version now boasts 480 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque. Especially for this car, the Ford Performance sports division has developed large brakes that will cope much better with increased power.
Gone are the days when muscle cars with huge performance from the factory were delivered without a decent braking system.
The all-new Ford Mustang Bullitt also received an independent rear suspension, a limited-slip differential and a launch control function (launch control).
The large brake package for the new Ford Mustang Bullitt includes 13-inch rotors at the rear and 15-inch at the front, both brake discs with directional blades for added cooling performance. The kit also includes Brembo’s massive red six-piston calipers at the front and single piston versions at the rear.
The American automaker reports that the new brake kit is compatible with almost any sixth-generation Mustang S550. Ford Performance also claims that Bullitt brakes will be able to handle the power of any 2.3-liter Ecoboost engine in the more powerful Performance version or even the monster 5.0-liter engine that was installed in the 2015–2020 Ford Mustang GT. The brakes are also compatible with Ford Mustangs with right-hand drive, which are sold in markets outside of North America. Additional compatibility specifications can be found on the official website of the Blue Oval.
