Ford may create a more powerful version of the current GT supercarOctober 27, 2019
Not so long ago, official representatives of the American brand gave an answer about the future of the current generation of the GT supercar. The fact is that after the presentation of the 760-horsepower Mustang Shelby GT500, the supercar is no longer the brand’s most powerful car.
More recently, the American automaker introduced the Ford Mustang in the most powerful version of the Shelby GT500. The novelty of the 2020 model year boasts 760 horsepower, despite the fact that the flagship supercar Ford GT, this figure is a little more than 700 horsepower. So now an important question has arisen – whether the brand will present an updated version of the supercar, because they should become even more powerful than the Mustang sports coupe.
In a recent interview with journalists, Ford was asked about the future of the GT. Nothing concrete was said so – apparently the brand management has not yet made a final decision regarding the future fate of the current generation of the supercar.
It is noteworthy that usually when the official representatives of a particular brand are asked directly about the future of their model, they speak in the affirmative, but there was no clear answer. For example, a recent talk about the revived Ford Bronco SUV led to the fact that the car will be shown in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Let’s assume for a moment that the American brand is still creating another version of the current generation GT supercar before starting production of a completely new version of the model in 2022. There is some strong motivation for this, and it is not connected with the title of the most powerful Ford car. We are absolutely sure that the GT version of the racing supercar, which has a capacity of 647 horsepower, still surpasses the Mustang Shelby in all respects (and this despite the difference in power), except for direct acceleration of course.
