Ford has decided to change the generation for the EcoSport crossover and the Ford Ka citycar. It is known that the Brazilian design bureau Ford is working on these projects. What the publication “Auto Esporte” said. According to media reports, the next-generation EcoSport and Ford Ka will retain the previous platform, which the manufacturer is going to upgrade. In addition, with the generation change, Ford Ka sedans and hatchbacks will noticeably increase in size. Currently, the “four-door” boasts a length of 4,276 mm, but the length of the “five-door” reaches a mark of 3,941 mm. There is no information on the new Ford Ka parameters yet.
The engine range, obviously, will remain the same: a liter “aspirated” power of 80 hp and one and a half liter 128-horsepower engine. Both engines can operate both on gasoline and ethanol. As transmissions are offered 6MKPP or “automatic” with the same number of steps.
EcoSport will also add in size, and also receive a modified line of motors. So, the model will acquire a new one and a half liter “aspirated” Dragon, as well as its turbo version. But the former two-liter “aspirated” was decided to abandon. EcoSport will have a version with the so-called “soft” hybrid. Both novelties will go on sale only in 2021.
