Ford is ready to invade Europe with a new Ranger RaptorMay 3, 2019
Ford Ranger is the best-selling pickup in Europe, so the American company decided to strengthen its position with an even more “hardcore” version of Raptor – with a reinforced chassis, racing suspension, a wider wheelbase and higher ground clearance.
The new Ford Ranger Raptor is equipped with a 2-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine with twin turbocharging, developing 210 hp. and 500 Nm of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. His main task is to give the car the opportunity to quickly drive off-road and in any impassable places.
Compared to the standard Ranger XLT, the Raptor model has a 150 mm wider wheelbase, the ground clearance is increased by 51 mm, shock absorbers with a longer stroke, special levers and rear suspension, as well as more powerful brakes and rims are installed on the SUV special off-road tires BF Goodrich 285/70.
The reinforced chassis also comes with optimized off-road geometry, offering an entry angle of 32.5% tilt and turn 24%. The total ground clearance is 283 mm, and the fording depth is 850 mm.
In addition, the driver can choose one of six modes of the traffic control system, including “Normal”, “Sport”, “Grass / Gravel / Snow”, “Dirt / Sand”, “Stone” and a special mode “Baja” for high-speed driving desert terrain.
