Ford is preparing a new electric crossover as opposed to the future Tesla Model YMay 25, 2019
Next year, the American concern will present its first production electric car. The crossover will be created based on the legendary model Ford Mustang, and will receive a cruising range of up to 600 km.
Ford’s press service does not deny that the future electric crossover is the most important, but also the most controversial model. The crossover, based on the sportcar Mustang, will be presented in 2020. And the manufacturer itself says that it can convey the true spirit of the Mustang to the main competitor of the Tesla Model Y.
Previously, the company wanted to name the novelty “March 1”, but this name had to be abandoned due to the negative reaction of fans. They considered it unacceptable to transfer to the electric car a meaningful name from the Mustangs line. The supposed new name is “Mach-E”.
The future model will be the first electric Ford, designed from scratch on its own platform. This model will launch a large-scale electrification of the group model line. New electric platform has a modular design with front or all-wheel drive.
It is assumed that the serial production of Ford March-E will begin next year. Details of the power unit, complete sets and additional options have not been disclosed.
