Ford GT overcame a mark of 483 km / h and entered itself in historyMarch 25, 2019
The guys from the M2K Motorsports team set an absolute speed record on the relatively old Ford GT (2006 release). The car crossed the mark of 483 km / h over a distance of 1.61 km.
While we are patiently waiting for such French Bugatti, American Hennessey and Swedish Koenigsegg to present hypercars that will pass the speed mark of 482.7 km / h, this 2006 Ford GT has already done this. It is noteworthy that the same supercar, which accelerated to 472.5 km / h a couple of years ago.
It goes without saying that this is not a serial Ford GT, but the changes that it underwent did not remove its permission to drive on public roads.
Its engine now develops a power of about 2,500 horsepower. Under the hood of the supercar is a modernized 5.4-liter V8 engine.
On the last day of the Texas Mile event, organized at the Victoria Regional Airport, the Ford GT first accelerated to “only” speed of 280 km / h, then its result was 386 km / h, but only in the third run did the supercar effectively go down in history. He managed to accelerate to an incredible 483.44 km / h, and this was done at a distance of about 1.61 km.
We would be curious to see this Ford GT in Germany at the Era-Lescien range, where there is a continuous straight track 9 kilometers long – this is where this American speed monster could fully show all its capabilities. This will probably never happen – somehow you need to drive this car, and these are additional costs, but the Swedish brand Koenigsegg has already proved that the 160 route in Nevada between Las Vegas and Paramp (USA) is also suitable for setting a new record.
