Recent spy shots have shown that Ford has begun road tests of the next-generation F-150 pickup prototypes, but this does not mean that the current model will no longer be updated. Ford’s public communications manager, Mike Levin, posted a couple of hours ago on Twitter great news for diesel engines who want to get Ford’s workhorse at a more affordable price.

Previously offered only in the elegant Lariat, Platinum and King Ranch trim levels, the 3.0-liter Power Stroke V6 engine is now available for cheaper XLT performance.

Already ready to order the Ford F-150 XLT with a diesel engine will cost $ 46,255. You can order it with SuperCab or SuperCrew cab options, however, for a Regular Cab cabin, diesel is not available.

The six-cylinder engine is designed for 250 horsepower and 597 Nm of torque. It is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission. According to representatives of the company, in this configuration, the engine will consume 10.69 liters of fuel in the city and 7.84 liters on the highway. In the combined cycle, the consumption of this engine will be 9.41 liters per 100 km of track.

A pickup truck with a diesel engine is capable of towing as much as 5,171 kg of payload, and its payload is 916 kg.
