Ford F-150 will be able to weigh trailersMay 2, 2021
The scale will show the payload on the touch screen or in the app.
This summer, the 2021 Ford F-150 pickup will have an onboard load scale, a new smart trailer hitch and new optional adaptive dampers as an option. The 2021 F-150, which now boasts a PowerBoost plug-in hybrid, starts at $ 30,635 for the base XL.
Onboard scales display the approximate weight of the payload in the truck on the infotainment screen. As a reminder, the new F-150 is equipped with a horizontally oriented 8.0 or 12-inch touchscreen. The weight can also be seen in the FordPass app. In addition, the payload is displayed in four columns of the rear lights. The top bar flashes when the maximum payload is reached.
A new smart hitch will also be available. It measures the weight of the trailer drawbar and shows the best weight distribution or overload of the hitch on the touch screen, in the app or also using the rear lights. On-board scales and smart hitch are available together as a $ 650 option.
Adaptive dampers are now available in the top trims of the car, starting with the Lariat, which starts at $ 46,390. They come standard on the $ 72,520 F-150 Limited. These can be adjusted using the truck drive modes.
Orders for the 2021 Ford F-150 with these new features open in June, and pickup dealerships will arrive by the end of the summer.
