Ford F-150 may get a multifunctional tailgateAugust 19, 2020
Engineers from the American brand are developing a multifunctional cargo platform door for a full-size Ford F-150 truck. There is no word yet on when she will debut.
One of the greatest assets of the GMC Sierra pickup is its MultiPro tailgate. Its special feature is that it can be transformed into seven different configurations, which means you can use it for everything from a temporary workstation to a quick release step into the cargo bed itself.
A few days ago, we reported that an updated version of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup will get the same door (or similar), making it a much needed addition to this truck.
Rumors are now circulating again suggesting that Ford will also introduce a GM MultiPro tailgate competitor for its full-size F-150 truck.
According to online community FordAuthority, the Blue Oval is currently working hard to create a competitor to GM’s much talked about tailgate. The company has studied the design of the GMC MultiPro as well as the multi-functional rear doors of Ram-branded pickups – the latter offers 60/40 door opening – and plans to introduce its own version of the door for the F-150 in the near future.
It is not yet known when Ford plans to start selling the F-150 with a multifunction tailgate, but we expect the new product to debut in the next few months.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the GMC MultiPro multifunctional tailgate will appear in Silverado pickups in 2021. GM-Trucks Western claims that GMC’s MultiPro tailgate could appear on the feature list for the full-size Chevrolet Silverado pickup. According to rumors, for the latter, the name of the door may be changed.
