Ford Explorer ST can be ordered with Michelin tires designed for MercedesJune 14, 2019
The high-performance version of the American crossover (Ford Explorer ST) will be available with summer tires Michelin Latitude Sport 3. These tires were specially created for the “charged” German crossover Mercedes-AMG GLE43 Coupe.
Already on sale is a new version of the crossover Ford Explorer, and I must say that this is a very good offer on the market. The car is available in several different configurations, including the more powerful, called ST. The crossover is now based on the RWD (rear-wheel drive) platform and, according to company representatives, this will provide more dynamic road behavior, which also becomes possible with the help of sticky high-performance summer tires Michelin Latitude Sport 3 offered as an option for Explorer ST.
It turns out that these tires were designed specifically for the company Mercedes-Benz. The small “MO” inscription on Mercedes Original on the side wall of the tires means that Latitude Sport 3 tires were specially developed by the tire company to meet the needs of Mercedes-Benz fans, and in particular the Mercedes-AMG GLE43 Coupe charged coupe-like crossover.
The journalists managed to talk with the chief engineer of the sports division Ford Performance Ed Krenz. He acknowledged that his original plan was to offer the new Explorer crossover only with all-season Pirelli tires. At some point, he and his team decided to launch Michelin’s high-performance summer tires for Explorer ST (21 inches), and Ford contacted the tire manufacturer to negotiate the details of the deal.
In response, the company said that the Latitude Sport 3 MO is the only currently available tire model that will meet the parameters of Explorer ST (275 / 45R-21). In the end, Ford decided that it was good, and therefore you can order a new Explorer ST with tires designed specifically for the Mercedes model.
