Ford creates a secret pattern based on a driver’s voiceJanuary 29, 2020
Ford Corporation has decided to step forward in the field of car safety: this time we are talking about secret nuts that make it difficult to steal wheels. Engineers have learned to design unique bolts with patterns that are based on the voice of car owners.
A person’s voice, like a fingerprint or an iris, are unique features used for identification. Ford experts decided to resort to such a practice – they record the driver’s voice saying something like “I drive a Ford Mustang”, and a special program transforms his voice into a unique pattern. After that, it is used to print “secret” and a key for them on a 3D printer.
Nuts made of stainless steel, resistant to acids and corrosion. They also have a security system – due to the planned location of the rib inside the nut, it is impossible to make a wax imprint from it and make a duplicate key, since the wax cannot be removed without breaking it.
If for some reason it is not possible to use the voice of the car owner to create a picture, the corporation can make nuts with a picture that is typical for the contract model, or with the initials of the owner. Also, the design can be inspired by his hobbies – even one of the famous racing tracks can be displayed there.
