Ford captures huge demand for V8-powered F-150 pickupNovember 19, 2020
The American brand plans to continue selling a full-size Ford F-150 pickup with a V8 Coyote. It is this engine that is in great demand among buyers.
Coyote’s 5.0-liter V-V8 is nearly a decade old. Yes, this modular powerplant from Ford has long been installed on the Ford Mustang sports coupe in the more powerful GT version, as well as under the hood of the full-size F-150. For the latest generation of the latter, buyers will also be able to opt for the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter Coyote V8.
“Our customers will still be able to choose a truck with this engine,” said the chief engineer of the F-150 project, Craig Schmatz.
He also noted that motors of the EcoBoost family are in equally high demand. The EcoBoost engine is suitable for those who care about fuel economy and who simply need a lot of horsepower and torque.
“But there is still a buyer who wants the V8. Therefore, for these customers this year, we have added unused cylinder shutdown and variable displacement so that they can achieve better fuel economy. The 5.0-liter Coyote V8 is still a very efficient engine, ”Schmatz told MC&T.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the Ford Kuga crossover has another hybrid version. Over a year ago, the American automaker actively began electrifying its model lineup for European customers. And this process continues as the demand for this type of car is growing.
