Ford canceled the scheduled restyling for Fusion in 2020January 4, 2018
Refusal of facelifting does not mean leaving the model from the market at the end of the current decade. We are waiting for the next third generation of the model.
The American automobile concern Ford has decided to refuse from release in 2020 of the updated version of a sedan Fusion which on the European market is on sale under the name Mondeo. This is reported by The Detroit News with reference to the insiders of the supplier companies who received this information from the manufacturer.
Despite the abandonment of restyling, the twin models Fusion and Mondeo will stay in the lineup of Ford, at least three to four years in advance. Ford spokesman Mike Levin declined to discuss this information, but told the publication that Fusion will stay an important model for the company for many years, and it is expected to develop in the future.
The Ford Fusion sedan stays a strong player in the North American market. In 2016, it sold almost 270,000 units, which is 120,000 copies less than Toyota Camry’s main rival. A similar indicator is good for the United States.
The rumors about a new generation of Ford Fusion says that it can grow in size and get close to a fellow Taurus. Also, the company wants to reduce the number of variations in the assembly of the Fusion model from 35,000 to only 96 for a new generation.
Earlier it became known that the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will overcome the threshold of 320 km/h.
