Ford announces two major car recallsJune 11, 2020
The American automaker has identified a dangerous defect in several of its models that could result in personal injury or even death. In total, nearly 2.5 million vehicles fell under the recall.
According to the press service of the brand, 2,147,323 of Ford Fiesta, Focus and Fusion, Ford C-MAX, Ford Escape, Ford Mustang, Ford Transit Connect, Lincoln MKZ and Lincoln MKC models will be recalled as part of the first campaign. In these cars of the 2011-2015 model years, a side door lock defect was detected, in which the latch spring breaks as a result of heating. As a result, the door may spontaneously open on the go. Fortunately, not a single case of passengers falling out of a car has yet been recorded.
Earlier, the automaker has already carried out lock repair in cars. However, it turned out that in some cases the repair was not performed correctly. Accordingly, now the manufacturer will have to check more than 2 million machines at risk and replace the defective latches where necessary.
The second review concerns exclusively Ford F-150 pickups from 2014-2017 model years with gasoline engines 3.5 V6 EcoBoost. About 292 thousand copies of this model were sold in the USA, 43.5 thousand in Canada, and about 8 thousand in Mexico. In cars, brake fluid leaks from the brake master cylinder, and this provokes a failure of the front brakes when the rear brakes are working properly. At the same time, a lamp about a lack of brake fluid may be displayed on the dashboard or an alarm signal will sound. In any case, there is a risk of an emergency. At the same time, the company talked about 7 incidents related to this problem. For all pickups subject to recall, the entire master cylinder or booster will be replaced if a leak has already occurred.
