The company Ford has published in Facebook a fourth-generation Focus video player. The video gives an idea of the rear of the car body, the design of wheel rims, emblems, as well as the shape of the front optics. The premiere of the novelty will be held at a special event on April 10.
A serial production of hatchbacks and station wagons Ford Focus of new generation will begin in June at the enterprise in the German city of Zarluy. Cars for the North American market for the first time in history will be produced at the Changan plant in China.
According to preliminary data, the model will be based on a completely new modular chassis, thanks to which the car will be about 50 kg lighter than its predecessor. Thus the wheelbase will increase approximately on 50 millimeters.
The range of units will include the inflatable gasoline engines of the EcoBoost family with a working volume of 1.0 and 1.5 liters, as well as 1,5 and 2,0-liter diesel EcoBlue units. As expected, the engines will work paired with a manual transmission, or with an eight-speed automatic transmission (according to other sources – with a six-speed automatic transmission).
Ford Focus will have at least five different modifications. In addition to the standard hatchback and station wagon, buyers will be offered a luxury version of Vignale, a sports version of the ST-Line, and a bit later there will be a sports version of the ST and an all-terrain modification Active.
It is assumed that in 2020 there will be a full charged RS-version. It should keep the 2.3-liter unit, which will now work together with the onboard 48-volt electrical network. The total output should exceed 400 horsepower.
