Ford adds chair-beds to F-150 options listNovember 17, 2020
They can be ordered for top-end pickup trucks for $ 340.
Ford spoke in detail about the new seats available as an option for the 2021 F-150 pickups in the King Ranch, Platinum and Limited trims. The manufacturer has issued five patents on them. The armchairs can be folded out almost 180 degrees, turning into a “bed”, which will be appreciated by those who often have to rest on the road or in between work.
Max Recline Seats are priced at $ 340. There are no additional servos in them, just a simple mechanism thanks to which the chairs can be expanded 180 degrees, the pillow can be raised 89 millimeters and the backrest can be moved forward for better neck support. The design and transformation process of the seats is protected by five patents, and the company hopes that buyers will appreciate their effectiveness.
The new option is due to the comfort engineering team. Their “field research”, which resulted in hundreds of videos and thousands of photographs showing how the owners of the F-150 struggle with the “pain points” of the machine, and became the impetus for the development of new equipment. And first, test samples of the seats made of glue and foam were created, and only after the design was worked out, the Fordists constructed a fully working metal prototype.
In the same way, the Ford F-150 has other features. For example, the Pro Power Onboard outlet kit, which converts the pickup into a mobile generator up to 7.2 kilowatts, or the loading dock door with a ruler, smartphone holder, cup holder and load securing brackets.
Meanwhile, the cheapest Ford F-150 to which you can order the Max Recline Seats option costs $ 57,525. And the most expensive option – F-150 Limited – will cost $ 71,920.
