One is put up for auction through RM Sotheby’s, and the other sells directly to Ferrari.

In order to become the owner of one of the most dominant engines in the entire history of Formula 1, there are two ways. The auction house RM Sotheby’s is currently conducting an online auction, which ends on Monday, December 2, at 13:00 Eastern time. It is noteworthy in that it exhibits a 3.0-liter V10 Tipo 051 / B / C. This is the same type of engine that propelled the Formula 1 F2002, thanks to which riders Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello won 15 times in 17 races during the 2002 season, taking the pedestal 9 times. In addition, this power plant helped win the competition of pilots and designers.

Designed by Paolo Martinelli, the engine delivers 835 hp. at 17,800 rpm, uses double upper cams and is equipped with a dry sump lubrication system. Currently, the highest price for it is $ 18,500. Experts expect that auction rates for such a legendary motor will reach 50-70 thousand US dollars.

Oddly enough, the RM Sotheby’s auction is not the only way to get Tipo 051 / B / C in your hands right now. Another motor is for sale in the official online store Ferrari for 90 thousand dollars. It is unclear whether it comes with things such as speed stacks, a timing case, injector guides or exhaust manifolds, as in the case above.
