For sale limousine of the Queen of Britain and the famous dictatorNovember 28, 2018
In the US, RM Sotheby’s has put up a unique Rolls-Royce Phantom V State Landaulet with a very interesting history. At various times, they used the Queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II and the Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.
Actually, Ceausescu ordered a luxurious Rolls-Royce in 1966 in the studio of Mulliner Park Ward. As is well known, the body of the Landaulet implies a folding soft roof over the rear seats.
The interior of the Rolls-Royce Phantom V is very luxurious. Of course, the decoration combines leather and wood, and the equipment includes air conditioning, sound system, TV, folding tables and a set of expensive crystal. In addition to the phone, there is a separate communication system for negotiations with the driver.
Nicolae Ceausescu, as you know, was very fond of a luxurious life, but such a device was too cool even for him. Leonid Brezhnev hinted at this, after which they decided to return the car to the factory and change it to a more “modest” Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud.
Rolls-Royce Phantom V resold in the United States, and then the car was in Bermuda, where he served Queen Elizabeth II twice during her visits. The limousine was also used by the Hollywood star and the Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly, during a trip to America.
