Flying machine with vertical take-off made in the USAJuly 13, 2018
California company Opener introduced a “flying car” called BlackFly, reports TechRadar. Its development took nine years: during this time the company conducted more than 1,400 test flights, flying a total of more than 19 thousand kilometers.
Despite the fact that BlackFly is called a “car”, it does not have wheels. The novelty is a single multi-copter with eight propellers. It is equipped with an electric power plant, an autopilot, and a vertical take-off and landing system. In the US, you can manage BlackFly without a pilot license.
In the US, a multi-copter will be equipped with eight-kilowatt-hour batteries, and in other markets – 12 kilowatt-hours. This is enough to fly 40 and 65 kilometers respectively. Charging the batteries depending on the voltage and type of network will take from 25 minutes (20-80 percent) to 7.4 hours (full charge).
Cruising speed of this aircraft in the US is limited to 100 kilometers per hour, and in other countries – 130 kilometers per hour.
The novelty will be on sale in 2019. Exact prices yet, but the company claims that the BlackFly will cost about “like an SUV.”
Above the flying car also work in the Toyota – it is promised to be presented for the Olympics-2020. Other well-known modern flying cars are the PAL-V Liberty project, the Slovak AeroMobil and the German Carplane with a dual fuselage. Also on similar machines work in Airbus and Boeing.
