Flagship Bentley Mulsanne may well become a crossoverMarch 18, 2020
In a conversation with the current head of the British company Bentley managed to find out that the flagship sedan Mulsanne may well take the form of a new crossover brand. Presentation of new items will take place in the second half of the decade.
After the announcement that the leadership of the British brand decided to stop mass production of the flagship sedan Bentley Mulsanne, details about the future of the legendary model became known. In a telephone interview with reporters of reputable publications, brand head Adrian Hallmark suggested that the new luxury crossover, which in the current model lineup of the brand will be located above the mid-size crossover Bentley Bentayga, can take on the role of the flagship model.
He said that the company is interested in creating another luxury crossover for $ 300,000. He noted that almost half of Bentley’s sales in 2019 came from the Bentayga crossover.
Further, Mr. Hallmark said that the novelty will definitely not become a sports car, as well as an electric car. The first car of the British automaker with zero emissions should appear around the middle of this decade, after which a new crossover will be released.
The novelty is unlikely to get a 6.0-liter turbocharged W12 engine, because, according to Hallmark, Bentley is going to remove the monster engine from production. “It will be decommissioned relatively soon,” said the head of Bentley, although he did not give exact dates.
“For 100 years, we have been trying to make engines bigger and more powerful,” said Adrian Hallmark. “Over the next 10 years, we will try to completely abandon such engines.”
