Fisker launches electric crossover with solar panels on the roof and recycled fishing net mats
Fisker has published the first official photos of the new electric crossover called Ocean. Such a car will be able to compete with the Audi e-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQC and Tesla Model X.
The crossover will be equipped with a power plant with two electric motors and a set of batteries of 80 kWh, thanks to which the car can travel up to 480 kilometers without recharging. In addition, the novelty will receive a roof with solar panels for additional recharge of batteries, which can provide up to 1600 “free” kilometers per year.
The company noted that the electric car will be the world’s first crossover with solar panels for the entire length of the roof. At the same time, the top itself will receive an electric drive – the roof section can be moved by pressing a button.
Photos of the salon have not yet been published, but Fisker emphasized that they use environmentally friendly materials in its design. For example, mats will be made from recycled nylon, obtained from old fishing nets. In addition, engineers will use a “super-economical” air conditioning system.
Fisker will present a working prototype of the car on January 4, 2020, however, orders for it will begin to be accepted this year. At the same time, the first crossovers will reach customers no earlier than 2022.
