Fiat cars will teach you to automatically switch to electric modeJune 4, 2020
Hybrid cars of this Italian automaker will automatically switch to one electricity at the entrance to the congested areas of the city.
Fiat is working on a pilot project, during which it will teach its hybrid models to switch to electric mode automatically. With the new feature, the company is going to make its hybrids even more attractive to customers who value sustainability. The project was launched in the small homeland of the brand – Turin. While we are talking about a prototype system with fully integrated airborne sensors.
They will signal the car to enter the restricted traffic area. In this case, the sensors will automatically turn off the internal combustion engine, switching the hybrid power plant to a purely electric mode of operation. With the new feature, Fiat hybrids will be able to claim the advantages in the city center that electric cars today use. This, for example, free parking.
The new algorithm has already been tested on a hybrid Jeep Renegade 4xe. Next year the list of models for tests will expand.
Recall that in the summer of 2020, the market debut of the electrified Fiat 500, Jeep Renegade and Compass should take place.
Meanwhile, during the tests, I managed to photograph the prototype of the updated Fiat Tipo in the Cross version. An off-road novelty will appear on sale before the end of this year.
