Fiat Announces Release Of New 500e On BEV PlatformDecember 5, 2018
Apparently, the guys from the Italian-American automobile concern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) decided to change their approach to electrification. Probably already silly to deny that the future belongs to vehicles that can boast zero (or almost zero) level of emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere. Many car companies are beginning to understand this slowly, rearranging their model lines.
FCA press service recently announced that during 2019-2021, it will invest more than 5 billion euros in the development of such technologies.
As Pietro Gorlier, the chief operating officer of the concern, said, a significant part of the investment is aimed at “developing new power plants with an emphasis on hybrid and electric technologies”.
As part of this development, a special Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) platform will be developed by Fiat engineers. Well, the first model to be built on it will be a completely new Fiat 500. Unfortunately, there are no details about this car yet.
We assume that the all-electric Fiat 500 will not only replace the current Fiat 500e, available in some states in the United States, but will also be present in some other automotive markets – in particular the European one. Such funding should have a corresponding return. New items are likely to be made in Italy.
It is reported that in the period from 2019 to 2021, 13 completely new / restyled models will appear. According to Pietro Gorlier, the industrial plan of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was presented at a special event.
